SCHOOL TERM DATES

This information is current as at January 2017

 

Term 1:     30 January - 13th April

 

Term 2:     1st May - 7th July

 

Term 3:     25th July - 29th September

 

Term 4:     16th October - 15th December

REGISTER LATE ARRIVALS

The school day begins at 8.45am. If your child arrives at school on or after 8.50am a late slip must be collected from the Front Office to take to their class teacher.

 

A late arrival will be entered as 'unexplained' if a parent does not attend the Front office with their child or contact the Front Office by phone or email with the reason for the late arrival. Late arrivals, as with other absences are totalled and recorded on your child's Student Report each semester.

 

Morning routines in classrooms are disrupted by students arriving late as instructions for the day need repeating or are missed altogether. Please give your child a great start to each school day by arriving between 8.30am and 8.45am.

DISMISSAL TIME

Students are dismissed from their classrooms at 3.10pm and are to collected from the quadrangle area downstairs in the yard.

 

Students in Reception - Year 5 are not permitted to wait for parents out the front of the school and must be collected from the rear playground.

If you give your Upper Primary student permission to walk / catch buses home, please provide written advice to the Front Office.

 

A teacher is on duty in the yard to supervise students from 3.10 pm until 3.25pm. Students must be collected by 3.25pm.

 

Students not collected by 3.25pm must report to the teacher on duty where they will booked into OSHC. Students may not wait for parents elsewhere in the school.

PRE-SCHOOL TIMES & CHARGES

Before Preschool Care - 7.45am - 8.15am

                                         - $15 per day

 

Preschool Day (Mon - Thurs, Term time only)                       - 8.15am - 3.45pm

                  - $130 per term (4 terms per year)

 

After Preschool Care - 3.45pm _ 6.00pm

                  - $31 per day

 

Friday Long Day Care - 7.45am - 6.00pm

                  - $107 per day

CHILDRENS CENTRE

Our school offers an Early Learning Centre for children between birth and five years.  Our centre is a community based and not for profit service where the goal is high quality learning and child care programs to suit the diverse needs of our community.

 

Highlights of the service include

 

Experienced and professional educators who work together to build effective learning environments for all children including children with special rights to support for their learning and wellbeing

A fully integrated pre-school program, where children’s child care and education needs are provided in a seamless manner. We offer 15 hours (delivered over 2 days)of pre-school for children in their eligible year – 12 months prior to school entry.

Our community programs which support early childhood development through parenting support and information, weekly Child and Family Health nurse clinic service and community development to link services for families in the community

OSHC TIMES

As enrolments are limited by the Department of Family and Community Services' policy, an enrolment form must be completed before a child may attend the program.

 

Sturt Street Community School is guided by the Department's rules of Priority of Access when enrolling students.

 

Fees apply for the program, but most parents should be eligible to receive childcare benefits.
