ADMISSION POLICY RECEPTION
East Region schools accept for enrolment children who are already 5 years old on the first day of each term. In addition, children who turn 5 prior to the Monday of Week 2 of each term can enrol and will attend once they are five.
It is departmental policy that children enrolling in Government school have between 11 and 14 terms in Junior Primary classes.
As a guide, children will progress according to the following pattern.
- Children admitted at the beginning of Term 1 will have 12 terms (4 each in Rec, Yr1 and Yr2)
- Children admitted at the beginning of Term 2 will have 11 terms (3 in Rec, 4 in Yr1, 4 in Yr2)
- Children admitted at the beginning of Term 3 will normally have 14 terms (6 in Rec, 4 in Yr1, 4 in Yr2)
- Children admitted at the beginning of Term 4 will normally have 13 terms (5 in Rec, 4 in Yr1, 4 in Yr2)
In exceptional circumstances the length of time that particular children, admitted in Terms 3 & 4 will spend in Junior Primary classes may be varied only after discussion between parents, teachers and the Principal with advice from other professionals where appropriate.
