Welcome to the Sturt Street Community Schools website! We are delighted to have you here.
Established in 2004, Sturt Street Community School is South Australia’s first government school dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for children from Birth to Year 6. Our school is located in the beautiful city of Adelaide and is housed within a heritage site that has been thoughtfully designed to facilitate a seamless transition for our students from the Early Learning Centre, to Preschool, School, and Out of School Hours Care.
At Sturt Street Community School, we take pride in being an innovative, nurturing, and culturally inclusive community that values strong connections and promotes a family atmosphere. Our team of passionate and dedicated staff is committed to providing your child with high-quality teaching and learning experiences that help them thrive.
Our curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum and the eight learning areas. We believe in creating powerful learners through collaborating with our teachers to design rich learning experiences that develop numeracy and literacy skills, communication skills, a growth mindset, resilience, and confidence for all our students. We take a whole-school approach to inquiry-based learning through questioning strategies and thinking tools that help develop strong thinkers, problem-solvers, and solution-seekers. Powerful learners take risks and communicate effectively by asking questions, posing problems, making connections and are able to represent their thinking.
We also have a philosophy that the city is an extension of the classroom with students having the opportunity to go on many excursions throughout the year.
At Sturt Street Community School, we are proud of our well-resourced, high-quality, and innovative learning environments, and the exceptional learning experiences that take place within them. We warmly welcome visits from parents and educators interested in seeing what learning looks like here.
